Wanjeri by Mutua Matheka

Wanjeri Gakuru is a freelance feature writer living and working in Nairobi. She is an alumna of the 2014 Farafina Creative Writing Workshop and is also a member of pan-African writers’ collective, Jalada for who she served as Festival Producer during the Collective’s inaugural Jalada Mobile Literary and Arts Festival covering Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, DRC and Rwanda (2017).

Wanjeri worked in Communications & Content Production at GoodTimes Africa (2016). She was previously an Editorial Assistant at Kwani Trust (2015-2016). She’s also served as Associate Editor at Mondeas Limited (UP Magazine, Kenya Concierge) and has written for The Africa Report, Safaricom Limited (Capture Kenya 2014), GoDown Arts Centre (Nai Ni Who Festival 2013, 2014).

She worked as Media Liaison on SPOKEN WOR:L:DS Nairobi (2013) and the Etisalat Prize for Literature Nairobi Tour (2014, 2015, 2016).
